The Short Rib Potato Skins That Ruined Us for Regular Apps
Every trip up toward the White Mountains needs a food stop, and we have for you to add on the “best restaurants” in North Conway NH area list. Tuckerman’s just wrecked our standards for what a potato skin is supposed to be — and we’re not sorry about it.
Short rib potato skins loaded with cheese and scallions next to a basket of fried calamari at Tuckerman’s Restaurant
The order that matters
Start with the short rib potato skins. Crispy-edged, loaded with melty cheese, piled with tender short rib, finished with fresh scallions — this is not bar food, this is an event. We tried both dipping sauces that came alongside. Sweet chili won, but the sour cream held its own. Bring backup for the table because these do not last.
Don’t sleep on the fried calamari basket either — hot, crispy, classic, with a lemon wedge and hot cherry peppers that add just enough kick. Between the two, we cleaned every basket.
Wash it down with something off Tuckerman’s 20+ beers on tap, then take it outside to the Container Bar — their beer garden setup with genuinely stunning mountain views. Insider tip straight from Tuckerman’s: grab a seat up top around sunset. You will not regret it.

If you’re already making the drive north, this is the stop. If you weren’t planning to — start planning. Tag us if you order the potato skins, we want to see the damage.
